CHRISTIANITY A FAIRYTALE?

I recently heard that some people are labeling Christianity a fairytale. Anybody that thinks Christianity is a fairytale and is reading this article I would highly recommend that you do yourself a very big favor and do what I did fifty years ago. Read the Bible yourself without any outside influence and do your own thinking. Never let someone else tell you what to believe concerning your eternal future especially when you consider the penalty for unbelief is eternal separation from God and everything good.

These people doing these evil practices are under the false belief that, if they can get everybody doing what they are doing, then that would make what they are doing OK. You and I alone will stand before God to give an account to what we have done in these bodies. Alone you will pay the price not them! Remember forever is a long time!

Take a good honest look at yourself and ask yourself, is what I am doing worth the price of eternal separation from God. You don’t need anybody telling you what to believe. The Bible says to go in your room, shut the door, and talk to God! God and His Holy Spirit will teach you the truth and all you need to know concerning God and why we are put here on earth.

The evil forces of this world are trying to prove to God that we as human beings are not worth loving. The Bible says that we are God’s greatest creation and there is certainly forces that are very jealous. They are out to prove that we would trade God’s love in exchange for nothing or very little. Showing God just how stupid we really are! That being the case, ask yourself, “what am I trading God’s love for?

What convinced me a long time ago that the Bible was indeed the words of God was the prophesies. There are over three hundred prophesies in the Bible concerning the arrival of the Messiah (Jesus) to this earth and the salvation and purpose of mankind.

Some would say that the prophesies concerning the Messiah are too generalized and could pertain to anybody. I would tell anybody saying that, they should read the prophesies for themself because the prophesies concerning Jesus are not generalized at all.

God says in the Bible that He is going to tell us the future in advance so when it does come to pass, we will then believe that He is God. I think we can all agree that only God knows the future so let’s take a look at some of the over three hundred prophesies concerning the Messiah so we can make up our own minds as to what the truth really is. Keep in mind, the Bible is not a history book. The Bible does contain a very accurate record of some of the events that took place in history however, the Bible is a book about the state of the human race and a detailed account of the Messiah or the savior of mankind.

The first prophesies we are going to look at come from the book of Psalms chapter 22 in the Bible written 930 to 1,010 years before Jesus was born. That would be like someone today predicting what would happen in the years 2952 to 3032. These prophesies are talking about the Messiah’s cruxifixction.

Verses 6 thru 8,

“But I am a worm, and no man;

A reproach of men, and despised by the people.

All those who see Me ridicule Me;

They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

“He trusted in the Lord, let Him rescue Him;

Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!”

Verses 12 thru 18,

Many bulls have surrounded Me;
Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled Me.

They gape at Me their mouths,
Like a raging and roaring lion.

I am poured out like water,
And all My bones are out of joint;
My heart is like wax;
It has melted within Me.

My strength is dried up like a potsherd,
And My tongue clings to My jaws;
You have brought Me to the dust of death.

For dogs have surrounded Me;
The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me.
They pierced My hands and My feet;

I can count all My bones.
They look and stare at Me.

They divide My garments among them,
And for My clothing they cast lots.

If you read the eyewitness accounts contained in the four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) You will be able to see just how these events transpired and how impossible it would be too predict with accuracy the details contained in these verses.

Most Jews claim that they are still waiting for their Messiah to arrive here on earth. Jesus also predicted this when He was talking to the religious leaders in the book of John, chapter 5 verse 43. “I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.”I believe this verse refers to the anti-christ who will be here the last seven years of Satan’s rule on this planet.

The next book in the Bible we will look at is the book of Isaiah chapter 53. This was written 700 to 750 years before Jesus was born. This chapter in the old testament is referring to the Messiah who is coming and that the Messiah will bear the sins of mankind.

Isaiah 7-9

He was oppressed and He was afflicted,

Yet He opened not His mouth;

He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,

And as a sheep before its shearers is silent,

So He opened not His mouth.

He was taken from prison and from judgment,

And who will declare His generation?

For He was cut off from the land of the living;

For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.

And they made His grave with the wicked—

But with the rich at His death,

Because He had done no violence,

Nor was any deceit in His mouth.

This is just a sample of the prophesies Jesus fulfilled. There is over three hundred prophesies concerning the Messiah that already have been fulfilled. I strongly suggest you pick up a Bible that you can understand and read it for yourself ( I recommend “The Living Bible” written in plain english. Don’t let anyone do your thinking for you! The Jews who are still waiting for their Messiah to arrive need to understand that when this other messiah comes, he will also have to fulfill the over three hundred prophesies that Jesus already fulfilled to prove that he is indeed the Messiah.  I would put the chances of this happening to be slim to none!

Let’s now take a look at some of the prophesies that were recently fulfilled. In 70 AD the Roman Emperor Titus went into Jerusalem and all the surrounding cities of Israel and killed a great number of its citizens and the ones that escaped death fled into other countries. From that point on Israel was no longer a country. Why did God destroy Israel?

God destroyed Israel because the Israelites set up alters on every high hill and worshipped false gods. they were also burning and killing their first born child to the false god Molech with the promise of financial security. The penalty for this crime was written in the laws of Moses.

Another fact to consider is God previously stated that the first born male child belonged to Him. We can see by the following verses that God hated this practice of killing your kids for the promise of a better future and actually warned the people of Israel what the punishment would be for those people who broke this law.

The following is the law concerning these false practices, Leviticus 20, Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Again, you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘Whoever of the children of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell in Israel, who gives any of his descendants to Molech, he shall surely be put to death. The people of the land shall stone him with stones. I will set My face against that man, and will cut him off from his people, because he has given some of his descendants to Molech, to defile My sanctuary and profane My holy name. …

That is why Israel after 70 AD. no longer existed. However God promised that He would eventually bring His people back to the land of Israel. Which happened May 11, 1949. After world war 2, some 1,878 years later! This was predicted by many of God’s prophets, I’ll show you just one of the many prophesies of Israel returning to the land that God gave them.  Amos 9:14, “I will bring back the captives of My people Israel; They shall build the waste cities and inhabit them; They shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them; They shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them.” Today Israel is supplying Europe with fruits and vegetables that Israel is growing in their deserts using the “drip system irrigation method” that they invented.

The Prophet Isaiah also predicted that Israel would become a country in one day! Never before in the history of the planet earth has any country ever been born in a single day! Here’s the verse:  Isaiah 66:8 “Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion was in labor, She gave birth to her children.”

Never before in the history of mankind has a people lost their country and yet still kept their identity. For 1,878 years the Jewish people were scattered throughout the world and yet still managed to keep their language and traditions intact. If you study the great Jewish people of the world (type “famous jewish people” in the google bar) and you will be amazed by how such a small group of people can contain so much talent!) You will see just how much God has blessed this people.

There are several prophesies that are taking place today that the Bible talks about. The first prophesy that comes to mind is found in Daniel 12:4, “But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.” We can all see how the computer has changed everybody’s life and also travel has dramatically changed our lives with the inventions of the jet aircraft and also the space shuttle. We can also see in this verse that this time we are now living in is referred to “the time of the end.”

Some people refer to this time of the end as “the end of the world” One point I would like to make is that this planet earth doesn’t have an ending. The Bible says that Jesus is going to rule this world forever. When Jesus returns to rule this world it will be the end of evil ruling this planet like it is today. Revelation 11:15, “Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” After the thousand year rule of Christ, (which starts just after the tribulation, and goes for another thousand years) Jesus says that there will be a new heaven and a new earth.

I don’t know about anybody else, but,I am sure looking forward to no more evil! And especially NO MORE SICKNESS AND NO MORE DEATH!

Let's take a look at more “end time Prophesies” and see if they fit for the time we live in today.

1 Timothy 4:1, “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,” The Bible refers to this time as “the falling away.” We can see this in 2 Thessalonians 2:3, “Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,

I’m sure that any church leader you talk to today will tell you that most churches are empty in America and I hear it is much worse in Europe. One lady I worked with several years ago, went to Europe for a vacation. She traveled to England, France, and Italy. She said the churches were empty and the kids were drunk by noon.

Here’s a prophesy that’s happening right now. “"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (Isa. 5:20.) I’ll bet the people calling Christianity a fairytale didn’t realize they were actually fulfilling Bible prophesy. What most people don’t realize is when there is a disaster the first responders, even before the federal government arrives on the scene, is the Christian church. Do you think that these organizations who are responsible for destroying God’s church will take the place of the Christians during the future disasters and help these people get back on their feet?

Here’s another prophesy that I have been hearing today. 2 Peter 3, “knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,  and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? Jesus does say in the Bible that no man knows the day or the hour of His return. When people make these false predictions of exactly what day Jesus is to return it only helps destroy people’s faith.

Here is one last prophesy concerning the general population today. 2 Timothy 3, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:  For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,  unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,”

I believe the above verses describe today’s situation accurately. There are many more verses describing these events, I just took a sampling of some of them so you can get a general idea of what the prophesies are.

Let’s now look at what is due to happen next. We have fulfilled prophesy concerning the return of Israel in 1949. We also have seen the falling away of believers from God’s Church and man’s attitude towards God and his fellow man.

The next prophesy that will come to pass, I believe, will be Jesus coming to this earth to remove His people and to save them from the great tribulation as mentioned in 1 Thessalonians 1:10, “and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.” And also in 1 Thessalonians 3:13,

“so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.”

There are a lot of people today who think the Christians are to blame for everything that’s bad in this world. Shortly they will all get their wish and there will be no more Christians left on this earth because Jesus is going to visit this planet and take his people with Him in preparation for the second coming of Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:9, “For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,”

How will God know which people are His? God will know His people because His people will have the Holy Spirit residing in them. We can see this in the following verses. Romans 8:11

“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” Is the Holy Spirit living inside of us Biblical? Without a doubt! The next verses don’t leave any room for doubt. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

According to the Bible the Holy Spirit resides in all of God’s people, and is restraining the forces of evil from all forms of evil and violence being released on the people of the earth. Once the Holy Spirit is taken out of the way, this earth will experience the greatest evil the earth has ever witnessed or will ever witness again. Matthew 24:21, “For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.”

2 Thessalonians 2:6-8, “And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time.  For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.  And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.” (At the end of the seven year tribulation.)

Here are the prophetic verses that confirm the fact that Jesus is coming for His people. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18, “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.”

Another fascinating fact to consider, we as Christian’s who are alive at the time of Jesus’ return will have our mortal bodies transformed into eternal bodies without ever having to experience death!  1 Corinthians 15,51-53, “Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.”

While we are with God in heaven, the people who are left behind on the earth will suffer from all kinds of plagues and judgments from God because the people will still refuse to acknowledge God as the creator of the universe and everything in it. Revelation 16:9, “And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory.” I can certainly see that happening today with many people believing that, belief in God is the same as believing in fairytales.

The next verses I will show you will give you an idea of just how devastating life will be like in the great tribulation.

Isaiah 13:11-13

“I will punish the world for its evil,
And the wicked for their iniquity;
I will halt the arrogance of the proud,
And will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

I will make a mortal more rare than fine gold,
A man more than the golden wedge of Ophir.

Therefore I will shake the heavens,
And the earth will move out of her place,
In the wrath of the Lord of hosts
And in the day of His fierce anger.

God’s fierce anger! The last seven years of evil ruling this planet is going to be a very scary time in earth’s history. The Bible says that some people will try to take their own life to escape the punishment that’s coming at them, except God is not going to let them escape punishment! Revelation 9:5-6, “And they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man. In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.” Maybe the zombie movies are closer to the truth than we originally thought! I find it hard to imagine a person lying on the ground, screaming in pain, with his head half blown off and God not letting them die!

Here’s another verse describing God’s anger. Zechariah 14:12, “And this shall be the plague with which the Lord will strike all the people who fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh shall dissolve while they stand on their feet, Their eyes shall dissolve in their sockets, And their tongues shall dissolve in their mouths.

I think people often forget that this world belongs to God and everything in it, so it makes sense to me that God would be very angry at the people who destroyed His planet as this next verse indicates, Revelation 11:18, “The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, And the time of the dead, that they should be judged, And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, And those who fear Your name, small and great, And should destroy those who destroy the earth.”

I have heard people say that this whole thing is unfair and they're going to tell God exactly that. I think it would be a very scary thing to stand in front of the creator of the universe and tell Him anything. I think you would be so petrified with fear you wouldn’t be able to say anything. Here’s what the Bible says is going to happen: Revelation 6:15-17, “And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains,  and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!  For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”

I find it interesting to see that the US government has drilled huge caves in the mountains. Large enough for semi trucks to drive in and unload their products. They have everything they need to survive a major disaster.

During the last seven years of evil ruling this planet the people here on earth will not be able to buy anything or sell anything unless they receive Satan’s mark either on their forehead or on the back of their right hand. Once the people accept the “mark of the beast” there remains no more hope for these people. They are eternally doomed! We know most people belong to Satan because of what Jesus says in Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” Jesus also says in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

I have heard it said by the unsaved people that if they do go to hell at least all their friends will be there and the afterlife will be one big party. I don’t know how this comforts them when their friends are people who have every selfish evil trait one can imagine. These people are forgetting that in the new world they will have spiritual bodies that no longer require material things to sustain life. I certainly would not want to spend eternity will evil people. I am looking forward to living here on earth when evil is no more!

This next verse is what the Bible says about the people who receive Satan’s mark.  Matthew 13:42, “and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.” There is no torment more intense than to live without hope! To find out that your life is over and you lost! Revelation 14:11, “And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

The evil forces of this world try to paint Christianity as a fairytale and impossible to achieve. This is a lie! Christianity is broken down into two parts. The first part is to offer salvation free to anybody who believes that Jesus took our sins upon himself and rose from the grave. we can see just how easy this process is by reading Romans 10:9, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” There’s no maybe about it YOU WILL BE SAVED! I don’t think God is making His salvation very hard to obtain. It doesn’t matter what evil you have already done. Jesus says in John 6:37, “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.”

Once you are saved God gives each of us the opportunity to obtain a better resurrection by doing good works. Our new bodies will be made out of light. In the book of Daniel, The prophet talks about how brightly some will shine. Daniel 12:3 “Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever.”

By reading God’s word we can see that in heaven there is a ranking system in place. 2 Timothy 2:20-21, “But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor.  Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.”

If you are reading this far down in the article I believe that there’s a real good chance that you are a child of God. The reason I say this is because Bible verses to unsaved people are like fingernails on a chalkboard or like garlic to a vampire. There is even a verse in the Bible that proves this fact. In 1 Corinthians 1:18, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

I am writing this article to encourage believers not to loose hope. We have some exciting times ahead of us. By looking at the signs of our times we can see that we are in the last days. We know that the persecution of Christians is only going to get much worse before it gets better. Remember to God the most valuable item that we believers posses is our faith. The Bible says that without faith it is impossible to please God.

God also says, His sheep knows His voice and will come to Him, and that God will not loose any that are His. Remember, we are put on this planet to learn the lessons of good and evil. I pray that we learn our lessons well. I will leave you with one final verse to encourage you!

Hosea 6:2, “After two days He will revive us; On the third day He will raise us up, That we may live in His sight.” It won’t be long now!
