The
Falling Away From God
I grew up in a small town in Northern California. When I was
10 years old, back in 1963, my friend Dave and I were walking down my street on
the way to my house. My friend Dave was a good catholic boy. He would go to
church every Sunday and would always cross himself whenever our school bus
would pass by his church to and from school each weekday. I came from a home
where everybody said they believed in God but none of us ever went to church. As
we were walking I pointed out to Dave that the people in the house across the
street from us didn’t believe in God. Back then that was big news, for you see
“everybody believed in God.” As we were walking Dave told me that in the near
future most everybody was going to turn their backs on God and become
non-believers.
I was shocked, I couldn’t believe it! I never personality
meet anyone at that time who didn’t believe in God. How could everybody just
turn their backs on God, I wasn’t even religious but I knew that a world that
didn’t believe in God anymore would be a very scary place.
I have always remembered that conversation I had with Dave
that day and I vowed that same day that if that ever happened I would not be
one of those people who would turn my back on God. I figured at that time that
if the falling away was to come true then his God must be the true God or how
else could he predict the future.
That was back in 1963 and I didn’t think at that time that
the “falling away” would happen so fast. I believe the falling away started
when Kennedy was assassinated and is still continuing till this day. I have kept my vow to God and wanted to warn
everybody as to what is really going on. There are several prophecies
concerning the falling away and I wanted to show you three of them.
2 Thessalonians 2:3
Let no onedeceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man
of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,
The
day that the above verse refers to is the day Jesus Christ returns the second
time to rule and reign over the earth.
1 Timothy 4:1
[ The Great Apostasy ] Now the Spirit expressly says that
in latter times some will depart
from the faith, giving heed to deceiving
spirits and doctrines of demons,
Today the majority of the people are being deceived by their
desires to achieve pleasure. There are thousands of different deceptions all
designed to get your minds off of God and off of what really matters.
And in this last prophecy it shows what the people traded
God for.
2 Timothy 3:1-4
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:
For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud,
blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving,
unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,
traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers
of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
Because of the falling away it leads me to the conclusion
that we are also in the “last days”. Now just how far mankind is going to fall
away from God I am not sure. If you are reading this and you are one of the people
who are falling away I strongly urge you right now to come back to God. The
farther you fall the harder it will be for you to come back. Do not play around
with something as valuable as your soul. You can come back with Gods’ help.
Deuteronomy 4:30
When you are in distress, and all these
things come upon you in the latter days, when you turn to the LORD your God and
obey His voice.
(for the LORD your God is a merciful God),
He will not forsake you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your
fathers which He swore to them.
1 John 1:9
“If
we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
I hate to see people get fooled out of their eternal life
with God. If you haven’t already done so I strongly urge you to read my article
about our new spiritual bodies that we are going to be receiving from God after
we die. There is so much more waiting for those people who don’t get fooled by
the evil forces of this world. The best is yet to come! All the riches of this current world can’t
even be compared to the great and exciting riches that God has in store of us.
1 Corinthians 2:9
But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered
into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
Please remember that forever is a very long time! Don’t be
like the Indians who traded Manhattan for a handful of beads. When it comes to your eternal life don’t be
influenced by anybody. Don’t take anybody’s word for it. Not anybody in your
family or any of your friends or any church.
As the Bible says when praying to God, you need to go into your room and
close the door behind you. Jesus died on the cross so you wouldn’t have to rely
on anyone or any church to go between you and God. Because of Jesus you can now
go directly to God.
